Made to Measure Roman Blinds

All measurements should be to the nearest mm. Decide where you will fit the blind mechanism (ie the baton to which the top of the blind is attached).  The mechanism can sit inside the window recess, as long as the recess is deep enough to accommodate it (at least 35mm).  Alternatively the mechanism can be located on the window frame itself or above the window frame.

Measuring for Roman blinds
Blind Width:

• Blind to fit inside window recess:
Measure the inside of the recess (distance A) in three places: top,
middle and bottom, giving us the
narrowest width. Confirm your
measurement as recess width, and
we will allow a 0.5cm to 1cm gap
between the edge of the blind and the
wall on each side, to avoid the blind
touching the wall when it is pulled up or down.

• Blind to fit on the window frame
itself/outside recess:
Measure the full width of the window
frame, or if the window is bordered by
an architrave, take your
measurements from either the inside
or outside of the architrave (see
diagram). Whilst this is obviously a
matter of personal preference, for
practical and aesthetic reasons we
recommend that you take your
measurements from the inside of the
architrave.

Alternatively if there is no frame or
architrave, add a further 4 to 7cm
either side (distances B). Ideally for
aesthetic reasons, distance B should
not be greater than the width of the
window sill outside the recess
(distance C). Please confirm this
measurement as blind size.

Distance E above the window can be
up to 30cm above the window
(provided there is room) so that when
blind is pulled open it does not block
any light out and sits neatly above the
window.
